
1. Rostenkowskl(D-IL) gag rule, which would have allowed debate on numerous tax increases, including a "cap" on the third year of the 1981 tax cuts, was defeated 204-214 on 11/17/83. ACU opposed the gag rule.
2. Addabbo (D-NY) amendment to strike all funds - some $2 billion - for MX procurement was defeated 208-217 on 11/1/83. ACU opposed the amendment.
3. On 11/3/83, the House approved the auto domestic bill, an extreme protectionist measure requiring used of fixed percentage of (high cost) American labor and parts in cars sold in the U.S. by a 219-199 margin. ACU opposed the bill.

8. On 3/8/83, the House approved, 242-185, an amendment instructing the U.S. representatives to the IMP to oppose loans to Communist Dictatorships. ACU favored the amendment.
9. An amendment allowing continued U.S. support to the Contras as long as Nicaragua's Sandinista regime continues sending arms to the Salvadoran guerrillas was defeated 203-223 on 7/28/83. ACU supported the amendment.
10. On 8/2/83, the House approved 338-90, a measure creating a paid federal holiday for controversial civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr. ACU opposed the measure.

The House adopted 221-195, an amendment which permits the U.S. to withdraw from its responsibilities under the 1979 NATO decision to deploy new missiles if the U.S. and Soviets reach a "freeze" agreement, and thus undermines confidence in American deterrence. ACU opposed the amendment which passed on 4/21/83.
17. On 3/22/83, the House by a 329-86 vote, gave final approval to the "pork barrel" $15.6 billion jobs and unemployment compensation bill. ACU opposed the bill.
18. On 10/22/83, the House adopted 227-194, an amendment prohibiting covert U.S. aid to anti-resistance forces in Nicaragua, authorizing instead a relatively useless $50 million fund for friendly Central American countries to interdict arms shipments to Communist guerrillas. 19. A $25-billion bailout bill containing an $8.4 billion increase in U.S. aid to the IMF and spending increases in various federal housing programs was approved 226-186 on 11/18/83. ACU opposed the bill.
